Uh.. Calm down. I think it is pretty obvious that name brands change up their dyes. I was simply saying that I was surprised to find Ritek G03. I was in a rush to get some media and was not expecting anything decent. And I was wrong, it wasn't Memorex, it was Maxell.

Oh sorry, it's just that I see a number of people who assume that because they bought a batch of Maxell, Memorex, ect. with Ritek dye that they will always get Ritek dye from that brand. I just wanted to make it clear to any newbies who were reading this that buying name brand media is taking a roll of the dice, so to speak.

As with CD-Rs I would always go for Taiyo Yudens. They always have the lowest error rates.

I agree. I only take Ritek over Taiyo Yuden due to the cost difference. Best Price I found on Taiyo Yudens are about $1.50 a disc and I can easily find Riteks for about 80 cents a disc (comparing 4x media here). Ritek is pretty close to the quality of Taiyo Yuden but I must admit that when Taiyo Yudens drop to under $1 a disc I will probably ditch Ritek and go with them. IMHO Ritek is good enough in most cases but if you can afford it then you definitely can't go wrong with Taiyo Yuden.
