Very possible, although wouldn't the 105 just not recognise the discs at all in that case?

EDIT: I've also noticed the presence of an NVidia NForce mobo on this system. NVidia chipsets are notorious for compatibility problems, if the NVidia drivers are installed AND the drive is set to UDMA rather than PIO mode in the BIOS (DMA in Windows is OK, necessary of course), there are documented cases of issues with this setup. Strange spurious error messages are a symptom.

Occasionally, Nero can throw a wobbler as well if the incorrect settings are used (using Joliet with mode 2 or something, I forget exactly).

Does the drive appear to be doing anything before it throws the burn? (ie does it seem to be spinning up and down and is the LED lit?) If not, it isn't even touching the media; then you know it's a fault elsewhere.

The way I read it, this is what's happening :

"but every burning software says that they are a bad medium???"
"The error message also says Incompatible Format!"

He doesn't seem to get as far as burning a coaster does he ?

I agree, hence the reference to drivers.

To test the hypothesis, I just put a DVD+R disc in my 105. It thought about it for about 90 seconds, finally deciding there was no disc in the drive. Nero ejected the tray, asking for a disc, saying it was empty.

So, while I totally agree that there's something not quite right about the setup (not just limited to bad media), I think the +R theory is unlikely.

Hi All!

Thanks for yer time guys!

I tried burning the datawrites at 2x speed and they work!

I bought Riteks and tried burning them at 4x speed but it took me double the time to burn the file.

I'm sure it must be my DVD writer now?

PS: I now have a problem with Nero, when I tried to copy a disc, when it gives you the prompt to make your Temporary File Folder, it keeps coming up with invalid path error?????

Hmmm.

Sounds as if the Riteks are being burned at 2x as well.

Sounds to me like a dirty laser. How many discs have you burned with this unit?
