Had problems with media which is the best dvd-r media for this writer for backing up dvd movies, as the ones ive used are crap. Having to shrink to less than 3.5gb and the movie still glitches in places?

no problem, fuji uses ritek dye. which is the dark purple stuff, easier for the laser to read.

Fujifilm also uses the Taiyo Yuden dye sometimes (one of the best). However Ritek really is your best bet as they are cheaper and you will always find a Ritek dye on a Ritek disc. Fujifilm occasionally sneaks crappy dyes onto thier discs.
