It's already here. Pioneer has just released 8x DVD-R discs and there have been 8x Verbatim and 8x Ritek DVD+R discs out for a while. From what I understand the 8x DVD-R media is made by Taiyo Yuden so it should be excellent. ***********.meritline.com/piodata-8x-dvd-r-blank-media-dvdr-discs-disc-jewel-case.html

You probably will pretty soon. If they are out here in the US, it can't be long for you peeps. Either way though they are going to be horribly overpriced. At $3.39 a disc I can burn 3 4x DVD-R Riteks (with some change left over) for the same price. If you are going to go 8x then look into the new firmware for the 107. Not worth 3.5x the price just to save 7-8 minutes of burning time.

I got a 2500A, so no firmware for me

I was gonna order a 107 soon, but with dual layer writers coming out I couldnt see the point, unless they were 2x or something stupid like that.

Uh, The Phillips will be 2.4x for starters and the Pioneer will be 1x. So 2.4x is as fast as they will be when the first come out. Also the media is going to be at least as expensive as the discs I listed above. I'm not saying the dual-format is worthless, I am just saying that it isn't worth trying to hold out for it. How much of a price difference is there between the 107 and the 2500A over in the UK? Here in the US there is only about $25 worth of difference between the two.
