Default Good PC DVD playback software?

atm, I'm using PowerDVD 5 which came with my Lite-On drive and this app is a total POS. My main complaint is that the screen capture only works about 20% of the time and I can't capture when the movie is paused. So can anyone recommend a decent DVD playback app with fully functional screen capture? TIA

Or for free I just use Media Player Classic which I find far more reliable than both WinDVD or PowerDVD.

I use WinDVD as well and it has been stable for me. Of course then again I didn't exactly pay for it. . . . . . .it came as a freebee with my DVD Burner.

yup totally agree with lazza on this one.

It's now possible to save any frame as a bitmap using Media Player Classic 6.4.7.7. There are also fixes for those of you using 16bit desktops, opening http URLs or using an audio filter that won't increase it's buffer 'on the fly'.
Latest version is 6.4.7.8

Also with the Real and Quicktime Alternative suites, you can do away with separate Real and Quick time players (if decoding Real & Quicktime media is all you want to do- if you want encoding functionality you're gonna need the full versions of Real and Quicktime).

Other Decent feature is it can play shoutcast as well so you don't need Win amp either- my desktop clutter free!!
