Question Windows 98 wont shut down...

 
I have a pc running windows 98se.... and well it wont shut down properly it jus goes to the shut down screen and freezes...

I Tried to run msconfig but it opens for 2secs then crashes.... so i did it in safe mode and it oppened it but didnt save any of the changes...

I then did a scan disk and it came back with no errors..

Virus scan... showed nothing...

Defrag.... still wont...

What else can i do?

found the problem.... downlaoded the free virus scanner from avg and my moms pc had 158 corrupted files.... just from 1 worm... called I-Worm

lol it was funny...

works fine now! thanks thou
