Fuji camera WILL NOT WORK......

Please please help me I'm at my wits end.

I bought a Fuji finepix 2650 digi camera but cannot get my pc to recognise it to download the photos.

I have installed the software etc just as the manual says but IT WILL NOT WORK.!!!!!!

I have installed the software and camera on 2 other pc's (not mine) and everything works fine so I know I am doing it correctly.

What happens is in device manager, I have the Opti host controller (pci card)listed as it should be and also the root hubis listed o.k.
All drivers installed and working properly.
When I switch on the camera, I get "unknown device" listed. and a yellow exclamation mark.
To follow this even further I get a "CODE 10.... drivers have not been installed" No drivers installed for this device.

When I try and update, or reinstall the drivers it says," drivers are already installed for this device"

So, on one hand i am told the drivers are not installed and on the other I am told windows is already using the best, correct drivers. If I try and view driver details.....there are no drivers listed so obviously the drivers are not installed so why does it say I am using the best drivers available and not allow me to update them using the disk what came with the camera.

I have an Alladin motherboard using windows 98 SE, and following instructions from "USBMAN",( a site I found on the net ) I have downloaded everything I can download and install, but he tells me that at the end of the day you must accept that some usb devices "simply will not work on some systems!!"....Indeed....Ali / alladin motherboards are renoun for USB problems.

I have been to FUJI website and downloaded and installed the very latest drivers for the camera...I say install....I still get the message saying the best drivers are already installed.!!!!!!

Which USB should I be using...1 or 2???....and how do I know which I have.

Is it true some devices simply WILL NOT WORK on some systems.

If I have to buy a new motherboard, RAM and processor, it will turn out to be a VERY expesive digital camera.

So....come on you boffins out there...can I be helped or is it true some devices simply WILL NOT WORK!!!!!
