The neokey / sbox allow you to direct boot PS1 backups, and to boot 80min DVDrips with a GS/AR. I think you can boot PS1 backups with a swap using R Key, but I don't know about booting 80min DVDrips.

The only disadvantages vs. a fliptop are the ones previously mentioned. You need to have a v4-v7 PS2, and some of the no solder mods aren't manufactured very well.

The R Key is better than a fliptop in some ways; it's cheaper, it's not a visible mod, and it doesn't expose your laser to as much dust or dirt. The fliptop requires removing the top of the dvd drive casing, and the laser is exposed during disc swaps.

I am swaying towards to the R Key now.

But the method of swapping - it involves holding eject until light goes orange then you have 5 seconds to swap for the back up before the tray closes, right?

Can this be a problem?

Also, is there wear on the eject button by doing this?

And can EA original games be played with this?

Yup. Hold eject for 5 seconds and the tray will open, pause long enough for a quick swap, and close again without the PS2 'knowing'.

I don't think there's any extra wear. I have a couple friends that have been using no solder mods for a while with no problems.
