CDrom drive problem

I am running on Windows XP and I got a little problem with my cdrom drives. They both work fine but when i insert a cd it does not show the CDs name or auto start the cd. My computer says everything is working probally and no error come up when i put a cd in.I have tried to disable then re-enable the drives but it still has this problem. But if I restart explorer.exe the drivers are back to normal and work and i think i should not have to keep restarting the explorer.exe for my cd drives to function correctly.
