Default cdrw optorite problem. please help.

sponsored links

this is an error log from opto. cdrw cw4801. i have been having this problem for a few days now and can't figure it out. i have removed and reinstalled the cdrw drive. i have reinstalled nero 6.3. i have used memorex and maxell cdrs. i have 6 error logs like this one. i have upgraded my firmware w/ no luck. i have changed settings on the device manager. all test and diagnostics say everything is working fine but i am still having problems.
the common errors are: scsi/atapi command timeout error or no seek error.
short description: the used read buffer goes to 100% and the disc burns 5%. there is a pause and then the buffer level kicks in. the buffer level goes up to 100%. from there it can either not continue to burn and i get one of the above error messages, or it will burn for a while and stop midway and then the error messages occur. thank you for whatever help i get.

You've tried most of the obvious things like reinstalling etc.

One other thing I would try is your ASPI layer.

Try ADAPTEC, if not, then go to Nero's site and download their ASPI.

Thanx but i still had no luck. with adaptec, i received a focus or tracking error. with nero aspi, i received a no seek error.

I am worried that the recorder is damaged. If you know how to read the error log, please tell me what it says. I have no clue what all that says.

what is pissing me off most is all the cd-rs i am wasting.

thank you again.

All the error log tells me unfortunately is that the burn wasn't successful. Not a great deal of help really.

To prevent wasting discs, try a simulation burn, verify the data burnt, and use CDRW's until you get this sorted.

If you can try this burner in another machine, and alternatively try another burner in your machine that would be of enormous help.

Also, try things like the Nero help tool and CD Speed etc in the Nero Toolkit.

thanx again insomniac.

i did all the pre-test: nero smart start, data transfer test, overburn test, and simulations. i even set the simulation burn to immediately go into the actual burn. the sim went fine and then the problem occurred again w/ the actual burn.

a month ago i was burning data cd and had no prob. this all occurred when i tried to burn audio. i even installed roxio w/out luck. i have uninstalled it since then cause i have read adaptec and ahead software don't co-exist well.

i removed incd because it has caused problems in the past w/ my other burner on my old comp. should i reinstall it? i will get some re-writables. thanx for the idea.

unfortunately, i only have 1 cdrw and am not computer literate enough w/ hardware to attempt switching cdrw w/ a friend. i don't want to **** it up. thanx for the idea. i will try to find someone who is more computer literate to make the move.

the cd-rom drive is working fine. it still reads cds. it is just the burner. i have e-mailed optorite for a little assistance. any more
help is greatly appreciated. thank you yet again insomniac for going above and beyond.
