installing problem!!!

i am wondering how to install my external dvd player on the second ide channel

i have installed it already but when i use the nero info tool it shows my hard drives under the primary ide channel then it has ,y cd writer and cdrom drive in the secondary ide channel and then under that it just has the dvdrw ide 1008 drive on its own. i cant open the drive because of this.

Any help would be grateful
