Default DVD Writer Burning Slow

sponsored links

Hi,

I'm using 1Click DVD Copy with Windows XP and a Plextor PX-708A DVD drive. Both my DVD drive and the Datasafe media I'm using are capable of burning at 8x, but the actual speed is always less than 4x. Please can someone offer some advice as to how I can speed it up?

Thanks,
Joe

Go to device manager, then to ide/atapi controllers
double click primary ide channel/go to advanced settings
and make sure dma is selected and not pio.
This worked for me!

Just cause the media is 8x, doesn't mean you get 8x from it with your firmware. Only media rated 8x for YOUR writer can do 8x.

on good quality media the plextor 708a can burn a 4x disk at 8x

my guess would be that the plex doesnt like the quality of the 8X media you are using and that is why it will only burn at 4X this is the function of Power rec it checks the media and determines what the bast speed to write it is.

Hi,

Thanks for your advice. I checked 'Device Manager' but it was already set to DMA.

Unfortunately the problem's now got a lot worse. Now I can only burn at 1x regardless of which blank media I'm using. This means it takes about an hour to burn a DVD.

This started about a week ago when I was trying to copy some wrestling DVDs which it was having trouble with. (It would often reject the blank discs and I would have to start again.) I have reinstalled 1ClickDVDCopy since then, but it hasn't helped.

Please could someone offer some advice to help me correct the problem?

Thanks,
Joe
