Default digital camera

computer specs: OS- windows XP home edtion, AMD 3000+ processor, 2.1Ghz, 1Gb of RAM, Fujitsu, free space on C 137Gb. Digital camera- PrakticaDCZ 6VR 6mega pixel, PC cam -USB. I am connecting via USB cable. I have installed the driver for the camerea as well. When connected to my PC, then when i acquire the photos from the camera, it comes up with message "failed to connec to camere". restart the program, I de-installed the drivers and reinstalled it, and restarted the PC, but still can't acquire photos from the camera. Also when I checked under printer and other hardware (scnners & cameras)under control panel, it only shows the scanner that I have but not the camera. does it supposed to show camera as well? I think it is not recognising as a hardware.Hope this info helps, please help

In Device manager your camera should show as a camera or possibly a removable storage device. Your PC`s USB2 should be backward-compatible with the USB 1.
What kind of memory is in the camera?? (flash, MMC etc). have you tried using a card reader?
I can only suggest uninstalling completely any drivers and editing software that you installed with the cam, the plugging it in and letting Windows try and find it

Default digital camera

Thanks mate for your help. memory card for camera is SD. What I did was de-installed the software, and then turned the dial in camera to "PC", selected - mass storage, then plugged one end USB into camera, then plugged the other end of cable into my PC -USB port -the windows detected the hardware and it came up as removable drive. I think the problem was with the software- CD that came with the camera.

It is now working OK.

Although my camera problem is fixed, I have another problem- when I print from my printer- it prints blank pages out. the printer is LEXMARK Z600 series. It was working fine before. But when I disconnected all the cables to tidy up my PC desk and connected the printer back it did not work. I checked the cartridges - OK, checked the cables-OK, deinstalled the drivers- then reinstalled it. But still it prints out blank pages. I have tried everything, but don't know what to do? please help!
