Question Benq 52X32X52 slow burning

sponsored links

Hi All.

Recently bought this Benq CD-RW drive, upgrading from old HP 16X burner. The trouble is, the new drive won't burn faster than 12X (anything higher fails), even though I'm using the same CD-Rs as the HP used, which burned at its full 16X speed, no problem.

So far I have tried upgrading the firmware, changing the burning software (Sonic, Roxio, Nero and even Windows have all had their shot), but so far to no avail. The blank discs are recordable up to 40X (they say), and the burning software (currently Roxio v7) shows highr burning speeds under its burn options.

I'm running out of hair to pull out, and don't want to admit defeat (or believe its just a faulty drive...), so any suggestions of even a vaguely constructive nature will be grtefully received....

TIA, Nige.
