p4 3 gig running xp sp2

dont use a password, never bother

after windows advised updates were ready it asked for a reboot

on doing so it comes up with user name logon (which incidentally is user_one)

on clicking it, it demands a password instead continuing to load as usual, even going into safe mode offers admin or user_one log on

both needing a password

can I regedit from dos to cure it
can I system restore from dos to go back half an hour I am using fat32, NOT ntfs

desperate folks

any ideas please

Default Have You Tried...

Just clicking ok to see if the log on prompt will accept no password
anyway?
Or clicking cancel to see if you can still get through?

Options:

1. Password reset disk. If possible try and get hold of a password reset disk
which will remove any passwords on a system and allow you to create one that you know or remember.
If works worthwhile remembering that you can create password reset disks within XP.

2. Failing that only other forseeable option is using ASR recovery from Win XP cd if you know how - will lose data from hdd though..
