God god man, don't CRJ it. That is a complete waste.

Look for a BIOS upgrade first. For AWARD you'll need to check with whoever built your PC (or mobo).
What type of PC do you have?

I would be very surprised if it is your Bios, especially considering I have an AWARD Bios 4.51 on one of my machines with a Samsung 120 GB drive.

Anyway, if you are still convinced it is, then you don't need to replace the motherboard, even though it is dated.

Get a PCI card, preferably one with an ATA133 controller chip. They can be bought fairly cheap.

Also, they are independent of any Bios or operating system limitations meaning you can put any size drive on you like.

Anyway, goodbye and good luck.

I'm not entirely convinced that this is your problem.

As I've said, I have the same Bios revision with a 120 GB drive without any issues.

It's only very old Bios's that don't support over 37 GB's, certainly older than an AWARD 4.51.

Anyway, controller cards aren't very expensive.
