Default Serious Error Zero Hour

This one is driving me nuts! Have played Command & Conquer Generals fine until I installed the "Zero Hour" add-on pack. Now when I try to play a Skirmish map with all computers (Hard Armies), the game will play for about 10-15 miuntes while lagging horribly as the game progresses till eventually it crashes to the desktop with a "Serrious error has occured" message. I will post my computer specs in a moment, but I am running a Radeon ATI 9600 128MB and I am not over-clocking anything on the computer. I did find a .txt error message in the Zero Hour "Data" folder and it mentions an "access violation to virtual memory address, or something like that. I have played around with the page file, made it larger, moved it to another drive or partition and nothing has helped. Here is the error message:

Release Crash at Thu Nov 06 22:00:49 2003
; Reason Uncaught Exception in GameEngine::update

Last error:
Exception is access violation
WinMain at 4016e0
Error code: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
