I have the same exact problem, only I can't find those keys. I did the regedit but that key description was not in there. Hopefully this screenshot will show you what my regedit looks like. when I click on the + sign there isn't anything there that even remotely looks like what was described above. I'm not real computer savvy so maybe its right under my nose and I just don't see it. I hope this pic isn't too large. I hope I'm not intruding on this persons thread. I figured I would just include my problem here instead of creating a new thread about the same thing. lol Thank you in advance.

JGraham13, your not looking in the corect place M8

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

go in a few more steps

I finally figured that out for myself. I was trying to to it last night but was frizzle fried and so those instructions didn't compute. I'm good to go now. Listening to a cd right now. Life is good!

Default adaptec easy cd creater

I'm assuming that this will correct my problem too. I upgraded from me. to xp pro. I can't burn cd's, it tells me that it is not installed. I can however make pic cd's. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no success.

When you go into your device manager what is the status of your cdrom? My code was 41. If that is the code you get I don't see why the above instructions wouldn't work for you too. Mine works great now.
