Found directions on removing the solder blob, but it didn't fix the problem laser move's but still no light from it??? Haven't checked the tracking and focus yet...anything else I should look into?

I tested those 2 points and got 96k ohms resistance on both. What does that mean? Do I have to replace something?

if your resistor value is an 01D this would be about right. If you have also checked all ribbon connections, solder joints, and ps fuses, then I'm afraid without having the console infront of me that's about all I can advise

the resistors have 303 printed on them...don't know what 01D means? Could this problem be caused by a malfunctioning door switch? Would the laser still move on the track if the door was open? The laser move's to the back of the ps2 when turned on. I'm gonna try removing the door switches and solder them closed.

doing a lid switch can't hurt. If it were the lid switch then the laser would not move though. If your resistors are marked 303, the should measure 30k, if you have a reading in the 90's then your laser wouldn't read anything
