Question changing network speed?

sponsored links

I have a desktop hooked up to a network and it says I am connected at 10Mbs. The other PCs are connected at 100Mbs. I'm thinking the 10Mbs PC can be changed to 100Mbs, but can't figure out how to do it. It has WinXP Pro & the network adapter in the device manager is listed as a Intel (R) PRO/1000 MT Network Connection. Can this network connection be changed to 100Mbs?

If you are on a 100Mbit link then I'd assume you are at an EDU or buisness. Check your properties on you NIC and make sure the speed and duplex are set to Auto. Are all of these workstations connected to the same switch? If not you may have one that is on a 10Mbit switch.

Exclamation

Also, there should be a Line Speed option on the Advanced tab under the properties for the network adapter. Try looking at that.

Red face found it.

Well, all of the PCs in this office are hooked to one router. I did find the "speed and duplex" in the NIC properties and it was indeed set to 10Mbs. I changed it to AUTO and it worked. Now it is running at 100Mbs. Thanks for the help Nastynann.
