Help!!! Problem burning
sponsored links
Hello, I'm having problems burning as of 4 days ago or so. i've been able to burn no problem. Out of nowhere now i'm getting this error: Failed to read from the file%s. I've never seen that before. I use dvd decrypter and dvd2one. been using them with no problem and i use Nero to burn and sometimes dvdshrink again with no problem but lately none work. i can still use dvd decrypter and dvd2one but if i try burning weather is nero or dvdshrink i get error and record failed. Any suggestion? any input is greatly appreciated

I take it that its only video files your having probs with, and you can still burn audio files ?.
One thing to try is to use Nero to convert an avi or mpg file to DVD and burn it, if it will it eliminates the burner as being faulty.
If using nero as above works, try reinstalling dvd2one and dvdshrink.
Also to try is if your using XP is to do a system restore back to a date that all was ok with you burning etc, as i could be poss that something has become corrupt.

If you have Nero, then try the Nero Info Tool and see what that says.
Also, is the drive displayed OK in My Computer and Device Manager with no errors?

It burns music no problem and i looked under device manager and no errors. Now i tried running the nero info tool and i got this:
C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
after that i choosed close and went ahead and it gave me a drive info and all those good things this does and under Hardware there's question marks under Systems
CPU ?
Bus Speed ?
Motherboard ?
System ?
BIOS ?
Memory 511MB
any suggestions? anything is greatly appreciated

HERE is the solution for the error message.
There should be no question marks or exclamation marks whatsoever in Device Manager, unless off course you have manually disabled something.
It's more than likely because you don't have the correct motherboard and chipset drivers.
Find the manufacturer, then download the drivers from their site.
If you are unsure of your hardware, use Everest which will tell you what it is and supply links for updated drivers.

in the solution for this error it reads:
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue: 1. Insert the CD (Is this the Windows CD or which CD?) into the CD drive or DVD drive.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
4. At the command prompt, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command:
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\config.nt_ c:\windows\system32\config.nt
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\command.co_ c:\windows\system32\command.com
exit
Are they talking about the Windows XP CD?
