Usually when you change a files extention it will change to this once its given you the usual warning, if your not sure you should always make a copy of the file to experiment with first, this way if things go wrong you still have the orig file undamaged, if its wrong you can return the extention to its original type, i.e. replace .iso to .exe and back again.

You said you put exe at the end of it, do you mean that you replaced the .iso with .exe or just added the .exe after the .iso (filename.iso.exe) for example, if you have done this i have no idea as to what may have happened.

As changing extentions has never given me any probs.

An .iso file is an image file and is burnt using this iso file to give an identical disc as the original.

Files from an iso file can be extracted to HDD using a prog such as isobuster.

You screwed up the file by changing the iso extension to .exe

You could try booting in Safe mode, might work.

Also when you get the message about in use , give it a few seconds without doing anything & try again.
