Playing Backup Games on Xbox 360

One thing that I am still not clear on after reading dozens of forum posts...is a modded Xbox 360 console required in order to play any kind of backup game? I have gone through the process of backing up a couple games, properly, and they are not recognized by the Xbox 360.

How do I determine Xbox 360 drive model? I know it is a Hitachi, though not certain of the model/model number.

FYI, I have done the following to backup my game...

SH-162C Kreon-updated DVD drive
Xbox Backup Creator 2.7...
Burned to 2 different high-quality DVD+R DL media brands

I cannot get my Hitachi (v0078FK) drive into ModeB.

I have tried the guides (***********.360mods.net/News/article/sid=87.html) to boot pc w/ Slax 2.1, etc. and no modeB.

I have tried waiting for slax to start loading before powering on the console.

I have noticed that when slax is booting, a number of ata1 erros are present. I am wondering if maybe my pc is having difficulty recognizing the drive.

My pc has a Via VT8237 chipset. I have IDE HD's...how can I determine if my pc has the sata drivers installed? The only reference to sata in my bios is sata raid, which I understand I want disabled...there is no basic sata section.

If Ive got video files on my computer, how do I get them onto my xbox so I can watch that shit on my tv?
