Default M2 MP- 188 questions

sponsored links

Hello folks I was hoping to get some information.

I recently bought a second hand PS2 with the intention of modding. I bought and intended to install a ChipMod Pro+ 2.0. When I opened it though, to my suprise I found a M2 MP-188 chip installed.

My first question is, what are the capabilities of the M2? I made a PS2 backup and it ran it fine. It dosn't seem to play PS1 back ups.

My second questions. Does the M2 make use of the same solder points as the ChipMod Pro+ 2.0? If so, can I simply swap the chips out by cutting the M2 from the wires and re solder it to the ChipMod Pro+ 2.0?

Thanks very much guys!
