How to import AVCHD(MTS or M2TS files)to Windows Movie Maker?

As we know that many editing software applications on Windows can not support AVCHD format (MTS or M2TS), sometimes it might cost more than we spent on our camcorders to edit AVCHD files. How to make it? If you are Windows XP or Vista users, now there is an easy solution which can realize it: Edit AVCHD files on Windows Movie Maker.

Windows Movie Maker is a free video creating/editing package that comes with both Windows XP and Vista (Windows 7 support now). It enables work with HD video footage, but the key problem is that it can not import the AVCHD files directly. Generally, Windows Movie Maker now accepts WMV, ASF, MPG (MPEG-1), AVI (DV-AVI), WMA, WAV and MP3. Additionally, the Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate editions of Movie Maker support importing MPEG-2 Program streams and DVR-MS formats.

For Windows Movie Maker can not accept AVCHD, you have to use a third program like a good video converter or MTS/M2TS converter which is designed to convert ACVHD to WMV/ASF/MPG/AVI/WMA, etc workable to Windows Movie Make to help you free edit the AVCHD videos from your camcorder on Windows Movie Maker.
