Backup Blu-ray discs to WHS for Media Player HDI Dune

HDI Dune BD Prime 3.0 is the most comprehensive solution for full HD (1080p) video playback based on Sigma Designs 8642 platform with a built-in Blu-ray drive and supports for retail Blu-ray discs. So it is a piece of cake for you to enjoy Blu-ray movies with the device by directly inserting your Blu-ray discs.

And we know that HDI Dune can also play Blu-ray ISO, BDMV, M2TS videos from multiple media sources like external HDD, USB devices, PC and NAS in local network (SMB, NFS, UPnP, HTTP). So if you are a WHS user and have lots of Blu-ray discs, you will need to backup all your Blu-ray movies to Windows Home Server and then enable your families to share them from any PC or media player in the house. And you can also enjoy these Blu-rays stored on Window Home Server with HDI-Dune by accessing to network: browser of network shares (SMB, UPnP), user-defined shortcuts to network shares (SMB, NFS), and links to HTTP media streams.

Now the most important thing you should do is to decrypt and backup your Blu-ray movies to Windows Home Server. If you don't remove the encryption from Blu-ray discs, these copy-protected Blu-ray discs will not let you make a backup or conversion on PC for any usage. So users who need to copy their Blu-ray movies for storage can install Moyea Blu-Ray Ripper ($49) or Slysoft AnyDVD HD ($79) to remove these copy protections. In my opinion, Moyea Blu-Ray Ripper has advantages over AnyDVD HD on functions and price. With Moyea Blu-ray Ripper, you can even compress and convert Blu-ray movies to MKV, AVI, MOV, MPEG-4, MPG, etc with good quality for storing on Home Server if you need to. And of course, this tool works well on Windows Home Server.

Then you can allocate these copied or converted movies into a share folder for video on Windows Home Server. In order to share your Blu-ray movies with media players HDI Dune or other computers, you should connect your digital media player device-HDI Dune or other computers to your home network. Then you can share and stream the Blu-ray videos to the device or computers in your home over the home network.

After putting more and more movies to WHS, you may need them to be better indexed and then you can easily access and enjoy with your HDI-Dune. So if you like to browse your Blu-ray videos by genres, years, parental rating and similar, as well as display movie covers, actors, descriptions and similar meta-data on your HDI Dune player. There is a single add-on program-My Movies for Windows Home Server could provide this set of features around movies on WHS and serve it to HDI-Dune player. With it, you can quickly find the movie you want to watch.

Hope you have a good enjoyment.
