Default Import MTS to Final Cut Pro X-Convert Sony PJ30V MTS to H.264 MOV for Editing in FCPX

sponsored links

The Sony PJ30V has more compression options than your average camcorder. Most of its video is recorded using AVCHD compression, which is today’s industry standard. The HDR-PJ30V has 32GB of internal flash memory and it can record Full HD video using 60p, 60i, or 24p frame rates. The PJ30V comes with the same version of Picture Motion Browser (PMB) software that shipped with the Sony HDR-CX700V, which we reviewed earlier this year. The new version of the software is nearly identical to previous versions of PMB, except version 5.5 does allow you to import and work with 60p and 24p clips (something that is essential for the HDR-PJ30V). One big downside, we noticed in terms of editing, is that the 60p clips recorded by the PJ30V don't always play nice with mac editing software. Final Cut Pro version 5.0, for example. And Now Final Cut Pro X is available could be Downloaded from the Mac App Store. However Log and Transfer was removed in the X version of Final Cut. So all Pro mts camcorder owners who use Final Cut are looking for HD Camcorder MTS Converter Software.

Here is the step-by-step guide to quickly use Final Mate for Mac to Import/Convert Sony PJ30V 1080/60p MTS to H.264 MOV for editing in FCP X on Mac.

Step 1. Capture native MTS from Sony PJ30V to Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac.
Run Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac as the fast Import AVCHD MTS to Final Cut Pro X on Mac, and drag the .mts files already backup all mts recordings from Sony PJ30V to your computer, and can browse the .mts video path and the software will automatically show your AVCHD clips in “Resource Tab”.

Step 2. Create a Movie for combine and convert Sony PJ30V AVCHD MTS 1080p footage.
Just select one or multiple video files you would like to convert and then drag and drop them to Movie tab. In this way, a Movie for conversion will be created.

Step3. Convert MTS files to H.264 MOV for Final Cut Pro X.
Click the Export button. Follow HD Video > H.264 HD Video (*.mov) to choose output format for editing in Final Cut Pro X. You can then adjust video parameters to keep original video resolution, bitrate, framerate, etc with highest quality. The Mac MTS to Final Cut Pro X Conversion will start converting MTS to H.264 MOV.

After the conversion, the AVCHD videos could be imported to Final Cut Pro X with 60fps highest quality. Of course, you also can choose Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov) as output format for without rendering. ProRes is advertised codecs to result in less compression and higher data rate/higher quality files for HD editing in Final Cut Pro.
