Harking back to the subject of this thread, and putting it together with the recent additions, I'm beginning to wonder whether the original question wasn't strange after all. Is "ADOBE" meant to be a clever acronym, and thus able to be pronounced unlike the word?

I could think of a few good possibilities for what it could stand for, but they aren't appropriate for all eyes!

Nope, 'adobe' aint no acronym an no one said that here either!

for the record, my friend uses it since 1997 an pronounces it as 'ad-doe-bee' , which i didnt undertand as ive been calling it 'ad-dobe' since 1989,
but when we both mention it throws us off-track, as if we're speaking a different dialect!

thats why i posted this!

ps- i prefer corel-draw

How do you pronounce divx? I used to spell it out, but now I say, de-vicx.
