I also use Verbatim as my choice of media for making backups. As for writing speeds I normally use 2x or 4x. I also write the image to my hard drive then burn the image from my hard drive to a blank CD instead of a direct CD to CD copy.

always write x8 with no problems,remember not to burn faster than the disc.some disc are only x16 but the writer x24.

i think the problem is the reading of the disc not the writing of it in most case's.

i burn at 12 wehn using clone cd ( or if backed up on computer with other prog) but 4 with .bin .cue

i write to image first then burn at x16 on scsi so wrting the image takes about 1:30mins to 2 mins then writing thakes about 3 - 4 mins, no prbs thus far

I write at 12x and never had a problem with neo 2. I heard that with messiah you need to make sure you've written at4x or less (one reason I'm hesistant going for the messiah). - but I don't understand why the chip would make the difference?

I have the Messiah, and I burn my cdr's at X16-X12, no problems so far.
