Have you thought that maybe the test has already been done by Pioneer and thats why they dont certify it, therefore not allowing it to burn at 2x...maybe a possiblity?? Im not saying that all of this comes down to Pioneer doing the right thing by us as i dont know. As far as i know it could have everything to do with product licensing and certification, and unless the media company pays Pioneer to certify their product, they wont get the 2x rating from Pioneer. I see where you guys are coming from, but its possible that theres more to it than Pioner just being Big Brother...

its all down to money at the end of the Day , Pioneer want to control the market and this is the way they do this.

1. They dont want a one of fee they want a royalty fee for every single disc you produc which would financially cripple you -which will then knock you out of the market.

2. They wont approve any disk, we have sent media to them which is better if not then the same quality as theres - they still wont endorse.

3. They operate like the Mafia (no one eates from their cake) lol

More likely the media is not really reliable at speeds above 1x.

You have to use NAME BRAND MEDIA. I use Apple DVD-Rs and they burn at 2X, Imation burns at 1X I believe, and I think Memorex burns at 2X, but they all SUCK aside from Apple anyway.
