hey boredskater2000@yahoo.com

This quote was taken from that link you gave:
Quote:
Although it is an extremely small amount of wear and tear, the software on this site can damage the Dreamcast because it is on a CD-R instead of the Dreamcast GD-ROM format. This damage is small and most likely will not be noticable. If you are paranoid, you can burn discs with dummy files to minimize the damage to almost none. Just put text files filled with 0's on the disc. There are programs that will create dummy files as large as you want them. This will push the data that the Dreamcast needs to read to the edge of the disc, where it is easier to read.
Note it says to use dummy files, then it causes alomost no damage whatsoever! I selfbooted and put dummies on all my games to put the data to the outside of the disc. Its not that hard, and obviously, my DC is still goin' great! =)

Backups killed my first DC. Only explanation...because backups where the only thing ever played in it besides the generator disc...and get this.. IT WAS 3 DAYS OLD WHEN IT DIED!!! I didn't play it that much either..just one day...poof...it wouldn't boot anything...not even the original game discs.

I believe part of the problem was I was playing my backup of Crazy Taxi...and well...I forgot to stick a dummy file in there....so I bet that stressed the laser.... Anyway...bottom line...backups can kill the DC.

I'm just glad EB has a 10 day grace period.
