Ahh, sweet - maybe, and this is just a thought - can you make a program that loads in the bios to play divx?, ie program the boot sequnce to load straight from CD to get the file, whilst it is doing that you could have a stripped down version of 'the playa' as the kinda OS automatically load whatever is in the drive - that way you would need a little ram, processor drive and mother board with a tv out card - cheap parts cos you would only really need to get the bare minimum to run divx & vcd etc. hmmmm thats a good idea man - hope you can get it going!

For a standalone DivX player that is not PC based you need an MPEG4 decoder chip.. There was already someone working on a PC based solution, but I can not remember the link.

DivX networks recently announced that they have teamed up with a hardware developer and they will be producing several new products one of them a DivX enabled DVD player.

Also DC's can play DivX, but nothing that is high res with a highbitrate, etc.

One other thing I should mention is that the term digital rights management came up a fair bit in the divx networks press release.. So I am not sure exactly what divx content their players will play.
