"Burning Process Failed At..." HELP!!!

I have Windows 2000 Professional... I am using Nero Burning Rom V 5.5... My burner is a Creative CD-RW RW6424e (6x-4x-24x), and it isn't working...

I'm trying to burn a mix CD (all mp3's), and it always says the name of the thread usually between 20-25% completion. I have tried slowing down the speed, closing all my programs, etc.

However...

My burner works sometimes, usually it will screw up on my first 3 CDs and on the forth it will work correctly, maybe that will give you some more hints to help me figure out my problem..

Can someone help resolve my problem? It would be very much appreciated...

I forgot to mention, the last couple times, it has reached 19% then the burner makes a noise like it's reading the CD and then it screws up..

If you have the burner for a while, it's time to open it up for a clean.
