Question Plextor 24/10/40 buffer underruns. [Xp1700+; 512pc2100; win2K]

Hi everyone, im new to these forums.

Im having some trouble with my plextor burner, its an EIDE 24x burner. Whenever i burn (ive tried a few different programs) The buffer meter bounces up and down... up to full, down to red, up to full, down to red. The burnproof kicks in so the CDs get burned, but a full cd takes 8mins+. Too slow for a 24x.

Ive enabled DMA mode on the unit, which is secondary master. That didnt do the trick. ASPI layer is 4.60.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanx

/Chris H

You will not notice much at slow speed burning but for high speed burning, HD defrag is essential.

If you copy disc on the fly, make sure the reader is fast enough for the speed you want to burn at.

Exclamation Buffer underruns, yes indeed!

Chris_H: I have the excact same problem. I've tried Win2k, WinXP and different programs to write a disc. I've also defragmented my HD several times, but it just won't burn quickly.

I installed my CD-R driver into a mac ( ), and it worked perfectly!

I need help! Something else than defrag, please...
