Question Checking nvram...... help????

Hi heres the story im having all sorts of problems with a base unit I bought, its a duron 1.2ghz with a pc266 system board does that sound right? Anyway when I put an os on it kept freezing when windows found my soundcard so I had to disable it and put in a pci soundcard when I rebooted my computer said checking for NVRAM and it went no further so I rang the bloke who sold it to me and he said to reset the bios so I did and no it says checking for NVRAM update ok and goes no further... what do you suggest I should do its gonna cost 30 to send it back I would rather sort this out myself but dont have the knowledge please help

Ki99, try removing the HDD (disconnect from cable) and try booting up again and see if you get the same error.

i had the exact same problem, it turned out to be a faulty stick of 256ddr....

if u have 2 sticks of ram try them one by one see if that lets u get any further.

Default nvram

disable NVRAM/ESCD update feature.
1] click start..settings..c/panel.....double click system icon.
2] Device managers tab select system devices.
3] Select plug+play BIOS click to select DISABLE NVRAM/ESCD
UPDATES check boxon the settings tab.
4] click ok ,click ok again, then RESTART p/c.
5]
After u restart your p/c ytr to shut down your computer again.
