Look around on the net and you can find a Creative Soundblaster Live 5.1 for around $35 bucks OEM. Great card but to use the 5.1 sound you will need there speakers with a pdf connection or order an adaptor from hoontech that will let you use the fiber optic cable.

There are cheap cards, there are good cards and there are reliable cards.

for the last 10 years i've always sworn by Creative. Not always the best (But always close), not always the cheapest (but never by much) but they have always worked, always configured and never given me problems.

Maybe i've just been lucky but I ALWAYS advise people to buy Creative soundcards.
